This panoramic adventure with Great Adventure Treks & Expeditions to Around Helambu trekking passes through a varied range of climate, vegetation and cultures, walking from green vegetation of temperate forests to the terraced rice fields and to the alpine region offering an idle introduction of Nepal’s cultural and natural beauty.

Around Helambu trekking with Great Adventure Treks & Expeditions starts from Sundarijal or Melamchi Pul, the area offers a range of cultures with the main two ethnic tribes living in are the Tamangs and Yolmus. The Yolmo people of the Helambu region are often referred to as “Sherpas”, they are thought to be more akin to Langtang Bhotias, and may also have originated from the Kyirong area of Tibet, just over the border.

Their religion and monasteries show their rich Buddhist culture. At lower elevations along the edges of the park, other mid hill tribes and castes reside including Bramins, Chhetries, Newars and some Gurung. This wonderful trekking leads to the charming villages of Helambu before ending the trip near Kathmandu.

Day 01: Arrive at Kathmandu and transfer to Hotel. 
On arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport meet our staff with GA complimentary transport transfer to relevant Hotels, our guide will give you briefing of the Hotel, Kathmandu, Trekking, and related information that you might require while in Nepal with Great Adventure Treks & Expeditions.

Day 02: Half day guided sightseeing tour in Kathmandu. 
After your first night in Kathmandu, you will be well informed on arrival about the time for your half day guided sightseeing tour in Kathmandu at places of interest if booked in advance.

Day 03: Drive to Sundarijal 4 hrs trek to Chisopani 2,200m.
A few hours drive at the eastern suburb of the Kathmandu Valley passes through the famed Boudhanath Stupa area (Little Tibet) renowned for its enormous Buddhist Chaitya or Stupa with the ever present all seeing mystical eyes of Lord Buddha. After Boudhanath the drive diverts to the dirt road for an hour towards Sundarijal (meaning beautiful water), a lovely spot with cool patch of forest with monkeys and fresh streams, a picnic spot for most of the Kathmandu people who wants to escape for a day from the busy crowded metropolitan life in the city.

The trek from here leads uphill most of the way passing through rural farm field and villages and to the cool forest just before Chisopani is reached for the overnight stop. Chisopani a scenic spot with about six lodgers, this place offers fantastic view of the Jugal Himal range in the north east and Ganesh Himal Manaslu and Annapurna range in the west. Apart from the snow peaks, a lovely view of the surrounding landscapes and valleys down below.

Day 04: Trek to Gul Bhanjyang 2,140m. 5 hrs. 
Trek from here leads to a small village bazaar of Patibhanjyang downhill, from here the walk is through farm villages with beautiful view of the surrounding landscapes, the path climbs up most of the way with few downhill and gradual winding track till the village of Gul Bhanjyang is reached for the overnight camp, a little farther from the village.

Day 05: Trek to Kutunmsang  2,470m. 5 hrs.
The trail from here winds up, as the scenery gets better with the cool air as you gain height coming to one of the main village of Helambu at Kutumsang at 2,470m after 5 hours of good walking through several farm villages and forest area, Ktumsang a farm village of Tamang and Yolmos people.

Day 06: Trek to Melamchigaon 2,530m. via Tharepati 3,505m. 6 hours.
From here the journey continues uphill for another two hours till Maghengoth is reached, Maghengoth, a lovely spot with a large grassy field, with an Army Barrack nearby. There are two trail from here that leads to Melamchigaon, taking the scenic route adding more height to our adventure towards Tharepati which is about three hours walk uphill after Kutumsang.  Tharepati at 3,505m highest point of this trip and worth the climb for the striking views of range of snow capped peaks from Langtang, Ganesh Himal, Manaslu to Annapurna in the far west and the Jugal mountain range to the north east.Trek continues downhill from Tharepati towards Melamchigaon for another three hours through the beautiful forest of oaks and rhododendron till Melamchigaon is reached for the overnight.

Day 07: Trek to Tarkegyang 2,560m. 3 hours.
The walk from Melamchigaon is gradual for an hour and half with the last hour climb to Tarkegyang. Tarkegyang, is the main village of Helambu region, the place is also renowned for its famed green apples and the wood carving on furniture and in other household products, visit around the village and its Monastery, and energetic short hike around on top of the nearby hills for more great view of the snow capped peaks and landscapes.

Day 08: Trek to Sermathang 2,621m. 3 – 4 hrs.
After a lovely morning, trek continues towards another important village of the area to Sermathang, the walk leads on the gradual winding uphill and downhill path offering excellent views of the surrounding landscapes all the way to the overnight stop at Sermathang after a good four hours walks.

Day 09: Trek to Melamchi Pul 840m. 5 – 6 hrs.
The last day of the trek is more or less down hill all the way to Melamchi Pul Bazaar, road head for the drive to Kathmandu. The trek passes through mid hills villages of Kakani and Thimbu before heading towards the subtropical region back to the rice paddy fields. On arriving at Melamchi Pul which is a busy bazaar, drive from here is on a dirt road for few hours until it joins the main Tibet-Nepal Arniko Highway. From here a pleasant scenic hour drive brings to Dhulikhel, an old Newar town situated beyond the eastern rim of Kathmandu Valley on route Tibet, from here short scenic drive of one hour reaches back to Kathmandu through the town of Banepa and Bhaktapur.

Day 10: Free day at leisure in Kathmandu.
A free day in Kathmandu, please inform our Great Adventure Trek staff if you would like to go on another short tour in and around Kathmandu Valley.

Day 11: Transfer to Airport for the International departure.
Today as per your international flight time, keep your confirmed air ticket, Great Adventure Trek staff will transfer you to the International airport for your final departure from Nepal, the land of high Himalayas.
