A wonderful trekking in the least and untouched area of Bhairab-kund region a wonderful experience to a Shaman (witch doctor) pilgrimage site through isolated and remote traditional farm villages in the panoramic Himalayan scenery with The Great Adventure Treks & Expeditions.

Bhairav Kund a glacial lake and named upon the destructive characteristic of Lord Shiva also known by the name Bhairav and is one of the holy pilgrimage sites for Shamans (witch doctor or soothsayer). Hindus and Buddhist religions pay homage and trek in this high ridges to the sacred Bhairav Kund at 4,200 m and take a dip in this crystal clear kund (pond) to wash away the bad deeds and sins pilgrims and devotees gather here every in the month of August on Full Moon every year as per the Hindu / Buddhist Luna calendar.

A scenic drive leads to a road-head Jalbire village; just 20 k.m. away from the Tibet / Nepal frontier, from here starting the adventure to the base of high Himalaya that straddles the border with Nepa-Tibet a scenic journey through magnificent mountain scenery, terraced fields and rural villages from varied ethnic tribes Hindu and Buddhist religion of Newar, Chhetries, Brahmins, Dalit, Tamangs, Gurung, Magar and few Sherpas.

At Jalbire village with the first night camping and being within the ‘Newari’ people culture of Jalbire, the walk starts from here to explore the less ventured region by trekkers, along the trail one will experience spectacular views of mountains in Tibet and the Jugal Himal section of the Himalayan Range, which includes the peaks of Dorje Lakpa 6,966 m, Madiya 6,257 m and Phurbi Ghhyachu 6,637m and as far to Gaurishanker, Menlungatse and Cho Oyu. This trek can be done all year round except for the monsoon months and can be combined with a rafting tour. Day 02: Half day sightseeing tour in Kathmandu.
In Kathmandu with half day sightseeing tour in Kathmandu at places of interest, as Kathmandu valley is rich in World’s Heritage Sites.

Day 03: Drive from Kathmandu to Jalbire 1000m. 3 – 4 hrs journeys.
Morning scenic drive of 4 hours in which one can enjoy the mountain views! Heading North East on the road towards Nepal-Tibet Frontier to Balephi town, used to be one of the main town on the trade route to Tibet on this Nepal-Tibet Friendship Highway.

The whole Balephi Valley is magnificent and from here our drive leads further on the dirt road to Jalbire driving for one hour following the river upstream to our first night camp at Jalbire.
Jalbire is a nice Newar village set on the banks of the Balephi River, where we gain an insight into the Newari culture and see the Hindu temple of Lord Bishnu.

Day 04: Trek to Chanaute 1,350m. 4 – 5 hrs.
Today an easy gradual walk about four hours along a road to Chanaute, the path follows through some small scattered Tamang villages and farms with views of stunning waterfall, then reaching at Chanaute, a small village habitat by Hindu Bhramans and Chettri people. Overnight camp by the school where one can relax and enjoy great mountain views!

Day 05: Trek to Khani Gaon 2000m. 5 – 6 hrs.
A wonderful long day trekking today of about six hours from Chanaute to Khani Gaon, the walk leads to a strenuous climb with some steep uphill on narrow trails. Rewarded with by the charming villages, streams on route and passing local schools, finally reaching at Khani Gaon a Newar village, also known as Dalle Pokhari after it’s ‘cute lake’ tucked in a hollow near the school.
On the middle of 18th century, before the unification of Nepal, there was a fight between Gorkha and Bhaktapur and the people of Bhaktapur fled here and eventually settled. Once again with excellent mountain views from the campsite!

Day 06: At Khani Gaon – Rest day
At leisure in Khani gaon to explore and to study the culture and tradition of this interesting and picturesque Newari tribe Village.

Day 07: Trek to Forest Camp 3,150m.  6 – 7 hrs.
Today a steep strenuous walk up hill through the cool and serene forest of rhododendron, the trekking is much vigorous then the previous day, an opportunity to be in this tranquil deep alpine forest. on route passing several cow-hers and Shepard’s shelter chances of seeing some wild life and birds around this area s this place is less trekked by other trekking companies, after the day’s walk overnight camp in the middle of the forest.

Day 08: Trek to Pati 3,765m. 4 – 5 hrs.
Trekking today leads to a steep uphill climb, walking at normal pace and taking easy with few short breaks the walk finally leads to the top of the ridge offering glamorous striking views of the surrounding landscapes and of the snow capped mountains in the midst of the alpine pine and rhododendron forest, after the climb for near 4 hours, with ample time to marvel the scenery and reaching at Pati. The campsite offers glorious mountain views here you can find rest houses made for the pilgrims, who makes a holy homage pilgrimage to holy Bhairav Kund on auspicious time as per the Hindu calendar.

Day 09: Trek to Bhairav Kund 4,250m. 3 – 4 hrs.
Morning after breakfast leaving the camp at Pati the walk leads on an uphill climb for an hour or more, on reaching the top ridge with glamorous views from here the path levels with gradual good walk for more than three hours to reach our final destination at Bhairav Kund for the overnight stop and for exploration the next day.

Day 10: At Bhairav Kund.
A full rest day for hike and exploration of the surrounding area and climbing to a nearby hill for better panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes and snow capped mountains of Jugal Himal range, Bhairav Kund a stunning holy lake (Kund means ‘lake’) at 4,250m. It is an important pilgrimage once a year in June/July pilgrims comes to pay their respects at the Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Bhairav manifestations of Lord Shiva and to take bathe in the holy lake to wash away the sin of a hundred life-times.

Day 11: Trek to Sherpa Gaon 2,500m. 6 hrs.
Early morning waking up early to catch the sunrise, and then leaving this holy spot with an uphill walk of near two hours, on reaching the top which offers grand magnificent views over Langtang, Jugal Himal range, Rolwaling range and as well of the Tibetan range. After this glorious morning views trekking down slowly on the steep path for about six hours through stunning forest to Sherpa Goan for the overnight stop.

Day 12: Trek to Larche 1,500m. 5 hrs.
Today, last day of this great trek following the trail down for four hours to the bank of the Bhote Koshi River and to our last overnight at Larche. After the camp is established hike for half an hour to the natural hot spring, for relaxation and to ease the tired bones and muscle from this great walk.

Day 13: From Larche drive back to Kathmandu by bus.
After this memorable adventurous trekking moment, heading back to Kathmandu on a driving journey for near six scenic hours.

Day 14: Free day in Kathmandu at leisure.
A free day in Kathmandu, inform GA staff if you would like to go on another short tour in and around Kathmandu Valley.

Day 15: Transfer to Airport for the International departure.
Today as per your international flight time, Great Adventure Trek staff transfer you to international airport for your final departure from Nepal the land of high Himalayas.
