Best Time For Everest Base Camp Trekking

The best time for EBC trek is Spring (March-May) and Autumn (September – November). During these seasons, the weather remains quite stable with the bearable temperatures. And you will experience the clearest views of the mountains under the crisp sky in the less humid surrounding. During winter lots of snow may make the trails to higher altitudes difficult. Plus, many teahouses may remain closed in the higher altitudes. During summer, the trail becomes wet because of rain. And the dense fog may obstruct the mountains views. Despite tougher climatic conditions, if you pack well and make yourself ready to face any hurdles then you can trek in these ofF-seasons as well. So, the trek to EBC is doable all year round.

EBC Trek Difficulty

Mt. Everest is the highest mountain in the world and trekking to its base camp is an adventure in itself. Trekking to Everest Base Camp requires a good level of fitness and strong determination to challenge the changing mountain weather. On this trek, you will ascend to the maximum height 5555 meters at Kala Patthar. So, there could be many instances of altitude sickness. And, since the mountain weather is quite unpredictable you may witness varying and unfavorable weather conditions that may add hurdles to your trek. Plus, the mountainside routes are full of boulders and the rugged terrains with the sloppy terrains and uphill climbs. The geography, weather, and altitude may create difficulty in the Everest Base Camp Luxury Trek. Itinerary

Our representative will receive you at Tribhuvan International airport, Kathmandu and transfer you to your hotel. In the evening, we will host a pre-trek meeting in our office and introduce you to your trekking guide. For the meeting, please make sure you bring your passport, three copies of passport-size photos and a readable copy of your travel insurance policy.

Early morning, after breakfast, you will be taken for a cultural tour of Kathmandu city. Some of the main highlights will be Pashupatinath Temple, Swayambhunath, Boudhanath, Kathmandu Durbar Square, Patan Durbar.

An early morning start takes us to Tribhuwan International Airport in Kathmandu for the 35-minute scenic flight to Tenzing and Hillary Airport at Lukla at 2,804 m/9,199 ft. On arrival at the airport, a guide will brief you and introduce our porters before our trek begins towards Manjo (2,835 m/9,268 ft.)

After landing we have time to explore the village while our Sherpa crew sort and load our trekking equipment. Then we begin our trek by descending towards the Dudh Kosi River where we join the main trail to Namche Bazaar, located just above Chaunrikharka (2,713 m/8,900 ft). The walking is easy.

After passing through the small village of Ghat (2,550 m/8,366 ft), it is a short walk to Phakding and then to Manjo.

We continue trekking along the banks of the Dudh Kosi, crossing this majestic river many times on exciting suspension bridges laden with prayer flags. After entering Sagamartha National Park, the trail climbs steeply with breathtaking views. Namche Bazaar known as the Gateway to Everest which is home to many quality restaurants, hotels, lodges, shops, money exchange, internet cafe and a bakery. Namche is one of the biggest villages along the whole Everest trail.

We will spend a day here in order to acclimatize and adjust to the thinning of the air pressure. In a short trek in and around Namche Bazar, we can see rewarding views of the Himalayas with a stunning sunrise and sunset over the panorama of Khumbu peaks.

The trek continues along the rushing glacial waters of the Dudh Kosi with magnificent views of the mountains. We trek to an altitude of 3,930m / 12,893ft today. On reaching Tengboche you will see the local monastery. Inside the monastery are incredibly ornate wall hangings, a 20-foot sculpture of Buddha, and the musical instruments and robes of the Lamas. From Tengboche the trail drops to Debuche, crosses another exciting suspension bridge on the Imja Khola, and climbs to Pangboche village.

Our uphill trek continues, taking us to the quaint traditional Sherpa village of Dingboche with its exquisite views of Lhotse, Island Peak, and Ama Dablam. We take our time so we avoid getting affected by the altitude.

On this day you can enjoy another day for acclimatization. We will have a trip to Chhukung valley via the Imja Khola valley to get a marvellous view of the surrounding mountains, especially Lhotse’s massive south wall, then return to Dingboche in the evening.

Today, the trail continues along the lateral moraine of the Khumbu Glacier and passes by stone memorials for climbers who have perished on nearby summits. We continue to climb as we are heading to the altitude of 4,910m / 16,018ft at Lobuche, which is really just a few huts at the foot of giant Lobuche peak. Some breathing problems may arise today due to the altitude.

This is the big and difficult day walk along the Khumbu Glacier and up to Everest Base Camp at 5365m / 17,601ft., the closest you can get to Mt. Everest without mountaineering equipment. The view of the Khumbu Icefall from Base Camp is spectacular. We returned back to Gorak shep for the night.

This will be another big and rewarding day of the trek. Most of the morning on this day is spent climbing Mt. Kalapatthar, a small peak (by Himalayan standards) at 5555m / 18,225ft. The ascent is demanding but the climber gets the most magnificent mountain panorama: Everest, the highest point on the planet at 29,028ft, 8848meters, towers directly ahead and on all sides loom the other giants, Nuptse, Pumori, Chagatse, Lhotse, and countless others. Upon reaching Kalapatthar, we rest for a few minutes and take a helicopter ride to Kathmandu enjoying the most thrilling experiences and breathtaking views of The Mount Everest.

Upon reaching Kathmandu, you will be transferred to your hotel.

And, at the end of the day, we host a farewell dinner program at a Nepali restaurant where you can see some cultural performances.

The trip concludes – our airport representative will drop you to Kathmandu’s Tribhuwan International Airport for your flight departure from Nepal.
