Jomsom Trek is an extremely exciting trek in the Annapurna and Mustang regions of Nepal. The 13-day trek begins from Kathmandu with the tour of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. And we fly to Pokhara, the city of the beautiful Lake City, and trekking starts from there. The trek in the beautiful Annapurna region starts and gradually enters the Mustang region. Your trail passes through picturesque villages, tumbling waterfalls, green forests, and surprisingly, an almost-barren leeward side of the Himalayas. The diverse Nepalese landscape, combined with the rich culture of its people, makes this trek all the more rewarding.
Jomsom is also going with the name Dzong-Sampa or New Fort. It is the main center of Gharpa jhong Gaunpalika. Jomsom is an independent village development committee and is located at an altitude of about 2,700m in Mustang District, Nepal. It broadens over both the banks of the Kali and Gandaki River. The Jomsom Muktinath Trek also allows you to walk on trails along the Kali Gandaki gorge which is the deepest gorge on earth and then visit Muktinath Temple which is an important place of pilgrimage for Hindus and Buddhists. Taking a dip into the hot spring at Tatopani will be a pleasant experience. The trek then will be passing through the Lower Mustang region ending at Kagbeni, which is a Tibetan influenced village full of prayer wheels, Chortens, and a Buddhist monastery.
The beautiful view of the Annapurna mountain range on one side and Dhaulagiri on the other side are just mesmerizing and captivating. Amongst the two ranges, you will be able to view 8 of the 20 highest mountains in the world. The Kali Gandaki is about a quarter-mile wide river bed; during the winter the river stays frozen, while during the summer and monsoon it fills with rainwater and melting snow. The scenery of the trail ranges from forests of bright Rhododendrons to rocky cliffs.
The culture along the trek is a rich combination of Hindu and Tibetan Buddhism. The trail's supreme point is Muktinath at the height of 3800m, which is a holy site of temples sacred to both Buddhists and Hindus for centuries.
