Kathmandu Cycling Tour Route: Balaju – Kakani – Mahankal – Jarankhu – Balaju
Duration: 5-7 hours for the round trip depending on the speed of the group. Or that of your own if that’s how you’re traveling.
Kathmandu Cycling Tour Route description: In fact, Balaju chowk is a busy junction at the Nagarjuna foothills in the northern section of Kathmandu’s Ring Road. Assuming that you know where Balaju chowk is, cycle up to Balaju bypass which is the starting point for the trip. From there follow the highway towards Trishuli. Here on, the route is pretty simple. You just need to stay on the main highway and avoid any diversions that might be misleading.
The only time you need to get off the main track is at a place called Ranipauwa from where the route goes in two different directions: avoid the highway and take the one on the right that leads to Kakani. Similarly, you follow the same route while coming back except for a small detour from a spot called Teen Piple. Here, you can find another way that takes you towards Nepaltar. Conversely, if it sounds too confusing, simply stick to the highway.
