Mardi Himal is the name given to the feature of the long rising ridge and its summit that from the southwest lower slope of Mount Machhapuchhare(Fishtail), the famous triangular skyline that is seen from the Phewa Lake at Pokhara. As we shall soon see from a closer and more westerly vantage point, the mountain hold wins peak – thus its name, Machhapuchhare , which is English means “Fishtail”. Furthermore, Mardi Himal trekking is a relatively short and easy trek in the Annapurna Region the Majestic Grouping of Mountains.

In particular, Machhapuchhare is the most southern high point of the Annapurna Massif , the awesomely majestic grouping of mountains in the central Himalaya that includes 5 of the 12 highest mountains in the world – all at the close of very close quarters to our route. Eight-day hiking through the forest and on above the tree line and on up to from our high altitude camp at 4,100 m. from where there are the most amazing close quarter’s views of all.

In this trek, you will be moving to your final destination through the path offering visions of numerous mountains, valley, forests, beautiful lakes, waterfalls. The trek starts from Pokhara where we start our drive till Phedi and start our trekking till Deurali. This is where all adventure and fun begins, you will enjoy your trekking right from this moment. This trek is of its own kind, you will get to see the magnificent outlook of Mt. Macchapuchare, Mt. Annapurna and Mt. Hiunchuli. The national flower Rhododendrons that blooms magically will pilfer your heart. You will come across the prevailing culture and lifestyles of Magar and Gurung community. Furthermore, this trek can be arranged as a private or joining an existing group upon availability and is preferred by all grade trekkers.

Mardi Khola (River)

Now descending first through the forest, a different route takes us steeply down to the upper Mardi Khola. Also, the torrent that has been the ice and the snow of the Mardi Himal. Although remote and still away from all the much-used trekking routes, our expedition now takes on the moods of the warm valleys and the friendly villages. Here, as we make our way along the bank of the Mardi Khola from the hillside village of siding. Similarly, we will pass down through the lovely fields, past the simple farms, and over the “interesting” bridges. Consequently, there is no doubt this indeed the idyllic Nepali countryside.

Best Time and Season for Mardi Himal Trek

The Mardi Himal Trek can be enjoyed year-round, but the best seasons are spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November). These periods offer the most favorable weather, stunning scenery, and comfortable trekking conditions:

Spring (March to May):

  • The hills come alive with blooming rhododendrons, creating vibrant, colorful landscapes.
  • Clear skies and moderate temperatures make trekking enjoyable during the day and cozy at night.
  • This is an excellent season for photography, as the mountain views are crisp and dramatic.

2.Autumn (September to November):

  • Known for its stable weather, this season provides crystal-clear views of the Annapurna and Machapuchare ranges.
  • The post-monsoon freshness enhances the greenery and landscapes, making the trek visually stunning.
  • Comfortable trekking temperatures and festive vibes in the villages add to the overall experience.

3.Winter (December to February):

  • Trekking in winter is a quieter experience, with fewer crowds and snow-dusted trails.
  • Although it can be colder, especially at higher altitudes, the serene beauty and peaceful ambiance make it worthwhile for adventurous trekkers.

4.Monsoon (June to August):

  • While the monsoon season brings lush greenery and fewer trekkers, it also involves potential challenges like slippery trails and cloudy views.
  • For those seeking solitude and are well-prepared for rain, it’s still a unique experience.

Choosing the right season for the Mardi Himal Trek depends on your preferences, but spring and autumn remain the most popular for their ideal weather and breathtaking scenery.

Unforgettable visit to Nepal

I had a wonderful 10-day vacation in Nepal in January 2026. During my trip, I visited the capital, went hiking, paragliding, and even experienced an incredible ultra-light flight — every activity was simply unforgettable. This was my third visit to Nepal, all organized by The Great Adventure Treks & Expedition, and once again, they exceeded my expectations. I want to especially thank Mr. Mani, who is a very trustworthy, helpful, and professional person. He always makes sure that every detail is perfectly arranged and that guests enjoy the best possible experience in Nepal. I highly recommend The Great Adventure Treks & Expedition to anyone planning to visit this beautiful country. With Mr. Mani and his team, you can be sure your trip will be smooth, enjoyable, and full of memorable adventures!

One of the best treks of my life! My guide, Binod, is so sweet and passionate about his job and knows everything. Without him this would’ve been such a different experience, because he always makes sure you’re happy and comfortable. The organisation was also perfect so I didn’t have to worry about a single thing. Perfect👌

I recently completed the Ghorepani – Poon Hill – Tadapani – Ghandruk trek (3–4 days), and it was an unforgettable experience in the Annapurna region. The landscapes were incredibly diverse—lush forests, peaceful mountain trails, and beautiful villages—ending with the charming atmosphere of Ghandruk. The highlight was definitely the sunrise at Poon Hill, with stunning panoramic views of the Himalayan ranges. A big part of what made the trek so smooth and enjoyable was our guide, Mr. Binod, our Porter Mr. Tubonat and Mr. Chandra. He was professional, friendly, and very attentive—always managing the pace well, checking on our condition, and making sure everything was organized along the way (tea houses, breaks, and route guidance). His support and calm attitude made the journey feel safe and comfortable from start to finish. I highly recommend Mr. Binod if you’re looking for a well-guided, stress-free trekking experience in Nepal and tour The Great Advanture.
