Overview
Great Adventurer Treks & Expeditions climb of Mt. Manaslu a classic adventure towards mid west Himalayan region a climbing expeditions to worlds 8th highest mountain at 8,156 meters first climbed by Japanese expeditions in the late 1950’s this great adventure starts with an interesting drive towards the famed ancient Gorkha Kingdom and then heading towards the town-village of Arughat in the mid-west of Nepal. From here trek follows upstream of Buri-Gandaki river from the sub-tropical forest to the dry arctic of Tibetan zone, offering outstanding views of Mt. Manaslu along with panorama of the surrounding magnificent peaks that straddle the border with Tibet, Manaslu is also known as Kutang in Tibetan, and the word is derived from the Sanskrit Manas meaning ‘spirit of the mountain or the soul’ like the Lake Manasarover in Kailash, Tibet, situated more east from the Annapurna and west from Ganesh and Langtang Himal. This mountain was first climbed by a Japanese Expeditions in the early May 09th 1956 by Toshio Imanishi and Gyalzen Norbu.
Manaslu region situated in the central Nepal was opened to western adventures in 1991 but the Mountain itself had been open for the Mountaineering Expeditions since 1950’s till today. The pioneer headed by H.W. Tilman trekked this region in 1950.After the climb of Mt.Manslu. The Great Adventure Treks continues over the highest point of this trip at Larkay la pass at 5,213m, from the top of the pass, it is almost down-hill through the serene alpine forests and meadows till the walk reaches to the main trail of the Annapurna circuit at Dharapani village, journey continues towards with the last day walk at Chamje village, from here a scenic drive leads back to Kathmandu with stunning views of the Manaslu and Annapurna range including the magnificent majestic Mt. Machhapuchare (Fish Tail) with the traditional mid hills villages.
