The treks start from Pokhara, a magnificent scenic town-city with awesome of views of Annapurna, Manaslu mountain range including the towering Mt.Machhapuchhre (the Fish Tail). Two beautiful lakes in Pokhara- Phewa and Begnas have a wonderful reflection of the snow-capped mountains and hills.

This short trek was coined as “The Royal Trek” after Prince Charles of Wales strolled around this region on a holiday. Along the way, you can explore the villages of the middle hills, Hindus & Gurungs hill tribes.

The Royal Syaglung Trek Difficulty

The Royal Syaglung Trek is one of the easiest treks in the central-western part of Nepal. It is also one of the most easily accessible treks from Pokhara.

You will only trek for a total of 4 days during this trip. The duration of the trek is also merely 4 hours a day.

The altitude gains during this trip are also quite low. The highest altitude in this trek is 1430 meters, which is comparable to the altitude of Kathmandu.

Taking all of these factors into consideration, this is one of the easiest treks near Pokhara valley.

Extended Trips

Day 01: Arrive in Kathmandu and transfer to Hotel.

You will arrive at Tribhuvan Airport in Nepal. It is the only international airport in Nepal and lies in Kathmandu, Nepal. Our representatives from The Great Adventure Treks will hold a display card that reads “The Great Adventure Treks”. You can meet you outside the airport terminal. You will then transfer to your hotel with them. You can receive all the relevant information about the hotel, your trek, and other information about Nepal with them.

Day 02: Half day sightseeing tour of Kathmandu

You will head out for a half day sightseeing tour of Kathmandu after having breakfast at your hotel. The heritage of the ancient culture of this city is preserved despite its modernization. You can see the influence of this in the architecture of this city, where you can find modern buildings as well as temples of the medieval age.

Pashupatinath Temple:

Pashupatinath Temple is the most popular Hindu temple in the world. The temple has a lot of legends, especially in relation to Lord Shiva. The temple is full of people, especially on the occasion of Maha Shivaratri. The main temple is two-storied. The surrounding areas of the temple has many numerous other inscriptions surrounding it.

Boudhanath Stupa:

Boudhanath, is an important holy Buddhist site in Kathmandu. Alongside Swayambhunath temple, it is a representative of the Buddhist culture of the various parts in Nepal. This stupa was made in the 5th century C.E while UNESCO declared it a World Heritage Site in 1979 A.D. This area is also popular as “Little Tibet”. Visitors here rotate the prayer wheels that are abundant in the temple while making several rounds of this monastery.

Kathmandu and Patan Durbar Squares:

Kathmandu Durbar Square lies in Kathmandu distrcit while the Patan Durbar Square lies in the Patan district. These squares are home to palaces that were residence of kings of the yesteryears. You can also see the brilliant display of wonderful architectural styles of Newari artists and craftsmen.

Krishna Mandir, which is the most popular temple of Patan Durbar Square, is also its greatest attraction. Hanuman Dhoka complex is the most widely visited site inside the premises of Kathmandu Durbar Square. Both of these squares are also homes to some fantastic museums.

Day 03: Fly to Pokhara 860m. and begin 2 - 3 hrs treks to Kaungaon 1,200m.

Today you will head out to Pokhara on a flight. For this, the staff from The Great Adventure Treks to domestic airport for a short half hour scenic flight to Pokhara. After you arrive in Pokhara, our staff from The Great Adventure Treks will meet you.

From Pokhara, you will go on a short drive towards the outskirt of Pokhara city to start The Royal Syaglung trekking. After a short ride, you will reach a suburb in Pokhara at Bijaypur Khola (stream). From Bijaypur Khola, you will hike gently towards camp at Kaungaon. The trail to Kaungaon passes through several farm villages and rice terraces. After a gentle trek for 2-3 hours, you will reach Kaungaon(1200 meters).

Day 04: Trek to Bahun Gaon 1,340m. 4 - 5 hrs.

The walk from Kaungaon to Kalikathan is a pleasant gradual uphill walk that lasts around one hour. Kalikathan is a rural farm village of mid hill tribes. The trail from Kalikathan is more gradual with a few uphills and downhills to Bahun Gaon for the overnight camp. Bahun Gaon comes literally translates as the village of Brahmins. This village offers a panoramic view of Annapurna, Lamjung and Manaslu range overlooking Begnas Lake below. The trek from Kaungaon to Bahun Gaon is 4-5 hours long.

Day 05: Trek to Syaglung 1,430m. 5 - 6 hrs.

From Bahun Gaon, the trekking trails pass mostly through the farm villages and rice terraces and small woodlands. After three hours of trekking, you will reach Syaglung Phedi for your lunch. After lunch, you will trek uphill for a couple of hours all the way to Syaglung village. Half of the walk takes place on newly built stone steps. The remaining half of the trek is on dirt trails before you reach your camp at Syaglung. All in all the trek from Bahun Gaon to Syaglung 5-6 hours.

Day 06: Trek to Begnas & drive to Pokhara.

After grand morning views of the Himalayan chain of mountains, you will make a long descent towards Lake Begnas. The walk begins in the morning as you trek through farm terraces and strewn villages. Along the way, you get superb scenery of the surrounding landscapes. The trek ends after a walk at Lake Begnas. After lunch (depending on the time of arrival), you will board a bus which will take you to the beautiful lake of Phewa at Pokhara for the last overnight stop. The bus ride from Begnas to Phewa lake will take about half an hour.

Day 07: Drive back to Kathmandu 180 km. 6-7 hrs journey.

On this day, you will drive back to Kathmandu from Pokhara. The route of the bus takes you along the beautiful, scenic hills along with sights of Trisuli and Marsyangdi River. It is also possible for you to catch views of Ganesh Himal and the Manaslu peak during this bus ride. After a ride of 6-7 hours from Pokhara, you will reach Kathmandu.

You can go for some last minute shopping in Thamel to buy some souvenirs or other items you might need.

Day 08: Transfer to Airport for International departure.

You will fly back home today. The representative from The Great Adventure Treks and Expeditions will drop you at the airport on a private transport. You will arrive at the airport approximately 3 hours before your scheduled flight. You need to ensure that you have you have secured your confirmed air ticket and necessary travel documents before leaving for the airport. The Great Adventure treks will be really happy to arrange another tour for you in Nepal if you want.
