Best Time For Langtang Trek
The best time for Langtang Trek is the peak-trek season in Nepal, Autumn, and Spring. During these times, the weather is relatively favorable for long hikes and outdoor activities in Nepal. So there are fewer chances of natural hazards and consequences. These timeframes also have fewer records of trekkers getting injured or lost or in other emergencies.
Autumn Season (September to November)
The Autumn Season usually starts in September in Nepal. And it brings the cherishes of moderate climate and favorable weather conditions. Here are some merits of trekking in Langtang during Autumn:
Weather Stability: Autumn offers stable weather conditions in the Langtang region. With this, there is a minimal chance of rainfall and snowfall, putting aside the risk of potential extreme weather conditions. This makes the Langtang trek safer and more enjoyable for trekkers.
Clear Views: Autumn features clear skies with few clouds. It helps trekkers get magnificent views of the mountain peaks like Langtang Lirung, Dorje Lakpa, Shisapangma, and other alluring landscapes. This surely offers trekkers breathtaking vistas and photo opportunities.
Fewer Crowds: Unlike peak seasons like Spring, Autumn attracts fewer tourists. This will allow trekkers to have privacy during trekking and accommodation. It also uplifts the chance of getting accommodation and food services on the trail to the Langtang region.
Ideal Temperatures: Langtang Region comprises a moderate temperature around the region during Autumn. This timeframe offers a pleasant environment for trekking, not too hot or cold. Here is a quick look at the temperature of the Langtang region in the Autumn season:
Average Temperature | 25.05°C | 77.09°F |
September | 22.02°C | 71.64°F |
October | 19.22°C | 66.6°F |
November | 15.21°C | 59.38°F |
Cultural Festivals: Autumn is a season of festivals in Nepal. Major festivals like Dashain and Tihar fall into this season, making it one of the most interactive timeframes of the year. Trekkers can experience and participate in traditional celebrations, which helps them learn more about the cultural richness of Nepal.
Merits of Trekking in Spring:
Colorful Blooms: Spring is the season of colors, and if you look at the remote locations, such as the Langtang Region, you can find the whole jungle that goes in full bloom. The varieties of wildflowers in Langtang, alongside the beautiful Rhododendron, keep you entertained. If you are a photo enthusiast or nature lover, the full-bloomed jungles will offer you a breathtaking experience.
Moderate Weather: Moderate temperature is another advantage of trekking Langtang in Spring. The weather is favorable, with moderate temperature and minimal chances of rainfall and snowfall. It makes trekkers convenient to walk around the remote trail for hours. The average temperatures of the Langtang region during Spring are:
March | 73°F (23°C) to a low of 49°F (10°C) |
April | 80°F (27°C) to a low of 56°F (13°C) |
May | 83°F (28°C) to a low of 61°F (16°C) |
Extended Daylight Hours: During Spring Season in Nepal, daylight is usually longer. This is a plus point because trekkers get more time to cover distances and enjoy the beautiful scenery during the daylight. Moreover, trekking in broad daylight is considered safer than evening or night.
Wildlife Sightings: Spring is nature’s favorite and animals’ favorite season. If you see the lives in jungles, many animals and birds are active in the Spring season. This increases the chances of spotting wildlife, including snow leopards, Himalayan Tahr, Red Pandas, and many others during the trek.
What Preparations Should Be Done?
There are several cores of preparation that trekkers must consider before embarking on the 7 Days Langtang Trek.
Permit:
Two types of permits are essential for Langtang Trek. They are:
- Langtang National Park Entry Permit
- TIMS Card
Langtang Trek mostly circulates the trail within Langtang National Park, a protected land for the conservation of wildlife species. So to enter through its premises, trekkers must obtain a special permit, Langtang National Park Entry Permit.
To acquire this license, trekkers must pay a certain fee to the Nepal Government. For foreign trekkers, it costs Nrs. 3000 per person. Similarly, for the SAARC Nationals, the permit cost is NRs. 1000 per person. If you are a Nepalese trekker, you must pay the price of only Nrs. 100 per person. Trekkers below ten years can obtain this permit – they are not charged any penny.
Similarly, TIMS (Trekkers’ Information Management System) cost also varies depending upon which geographical region you are from. There are three types of TIMS cards; Green TIMS Card was set for individual trekkers, costing $20 per person. However, since solo trekking has been banned, it has not come into existence anymore. Blue Cards are designated for group trekkers, costing $10 per person. Similarly, the Pink TIMS Card costs $6 per person and is designed for trekkers from SAARC Nations.
To get Langtang National Park Entry Permit and TIMS Card, trekkers must submit the following documents:
– Copies of Nepal Visa
– Copies of original passport
– Passport-sized photographs
– Insurance
– Itinerary details from the Trekking Agency
– Permit Fees
Trekkers can visit the Nepal Tourism Board or Trekking Agencies Association of Nepal (TAAN) to purchase these required permits for Langtang Trek 7 Days.
Optional Permit (Shivapuri National Park Entry Permit)
Our trek starts from Syabrubesi in Rasuwa District, so we don’t have to worry about acquiring Shivapuri National Park Entry Permit. But if you are following the trail from Shivapuri National Park, then you should obtain this permit. You can get this license at NRs. 1000 per person (for foreign trekkers), NRs. 600 (for SAARC Nations Trekkers), and NRs. 100 (for Nepalese Trekkers).
Physical and Mental Demands:
This package of Langtang National Park has seven days itinerary, and looking at this, we can know it is a multi-day trek that requires a high level of physical fitness. On top of that, the standard trail of Langtang Trek is remote, rugged, and off-beaten, so fitness is all that matters.
In addition, this trek takes trekkers over 3500 meters in altitude, where altitude sickness might be a primary hazard to avoid. While the trek will be exhausting after over 6 hours of walking daily, altitude sickness might catch anyone anytime. Moreover, the weather patterns of the Langtang Region are unpredictable, so you might want to go through the weather forecast before starting the trek.
Mental sturdiness is also highly required since many trekkers might give up this trek due to long walks and extreme climates. So staying positive and seeking help from guides and porters is recommended. Besides, trekkers should be mentally prepared for all the existing problems and upcoming issues that might hamper the trek.

Do I Need Guides and Porters For This Trek?
Yes, you need at least one professional and certified guide for the Langtang Trek 7 Days Package. It’s been several months since Nepal Government banned solo trekking in Nepal. Considering the risk of getting lost in an unknown and remote location and injured, the provision of compulsorily hiring professional guides existed.
Many trekking agencies offer a professional and experienced guide in their package. If that’s not the case, you can search for the guide services online and look for the services that cater to your expectations and preferences. You can discuss your expectations and the service they offer while you search for the best guides. Also, do not forget to negotiate the fees for the service you seek from them. Also, a quick note, tipping guide is not mandatory, but they are highly expected in Nepal.
Hiring guides have several benefits, including navigational, conversational, and cultural add-ons. Guides can take you from the best and shortcut trails from where the views are aesthetic. Similarly, they can help you communicate with the local people and help you learn about their culture and tradition. Moreover, guides always provide insights into the local history, culture, and religion.
Similarly, hiring porters is also very important since they help carry your backpacks, gear, and other belongings during the trek. It will allow you to delve into the natural beauty and landscapes of the Langtang Region.

The plain and hilly landscapes of Nuwakot and the steep and alluring location of Rasuwa, including Dhunche, will give us one of the most awe-inspiring experiences during the journey. Upon reaching Dhunche, we must go through some formalities at the Army Checkpost. If you have not purchased Langtang National Park Entry Permit, you can buy it from the Army Checkpost.
Location: Lama Hotel

We will start our journey through the dense forest from Syabrubesi with the vistas of Langtang Lirung on the top of the hill. First, we reach Bamboo Village, which features a dense forest of bamboo and rhododendron. From there, we move through the remote trail that stretches up to Rimsha (2400m). Rimsha offers majestic views of the Himalayas, green hills, and valleys around Langtang Region. We will proceed to Lama Hotel after a few hours of walk, where we can stay overnight.

From Ghoratabela, we must traverse through a few settlements and army posts before heading towards Langtang village. Kyanjin Gompa is an ancient Tibetan Monastery in the Langtang region for centuries. It carries great significance to Buddhism and its practice around the region. There is also a cheese factory where you can enjoy yak cheese and other dairy products.

The views of the snow-capped peaks in the north soothe our journey as we hike uphill towards Kyanjin Ri at 4773 meters (15655 feet) above sea level.
The sunrise views are soothing, and the stunning vistas of 20 peaks and frozen lakes from Kyanjin Ri offer us a once-in-a-lifetime experience. We will delve into sightseeing activities in Kyanjin Ri for some time.
Once we wrap up the sightseeing activities, we will descend toward Ghoratabela. The total duration of the trek is 7 hours, so its recommended to have sturdy hiking boots. Similarly, trekkers must be acclimatized before they start their today’s trek. As the trek first takes to over 4500 meters above sea level and then directly drops you down to around 3500 meters, it might hurt human health.
We will proceed on our journey from the same trail we followed to reach Langtang Village before. We will traverse through the dense forest, yak pastures, green hills, and valleys before we finally make it to Ghoratabela. Tonight, we will stay at a tea house.
