Commencing your journey by heading northwest of Kathmandu, you will take a drive to Dunche, accompanied by dense forests, raging rivers, and pasture lands. Arriving at Dunche, you will start to trek towards the Thulo Syabru by passing the outskirts of Langtang National Park. Further proceeding with the trek, you will follow the trail alongside the Bhote Koshi River, passing a dense forest of rhododendrons and bamboo to teach Lama Hotel.

Ascending the narrow pathways on the ridgeline, you will pass settlements like Langtang village, Mundo, Sighdum, Yamphu, etc, to arrive at Kyanjin Gompa. You will have a day allocated as an exploration day at Kyanjin. During this time, you can visit the oldest cheese factory in Nepal and enjoy the taste of fresh cheese. 16 days Langtang Gosaikunda Trek

This iconic 16-day Langtang Gosainkunda trek is an extensive exploration bound by a religious belief. This trek provides you with the allure of the rugged terrain of the Langtang Region, along with the divine energy of the Gosainkunda Lakes. Unlike the other two treks, which start from a drive to Syabrubesi, this full-fledged trek allows you to explore the Kathmandu Valley.

Upon your arrival at the airport, our representative will pick you up and escort you to the designated hotels. Subsequently, the next day, you will visit some of the popular landmarks such as Pashupatinath temple, Durbar Square, etc., which are marked as heritage sites by Unesco. Then, finally, your journey will kick off with a drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi.

You will flow the classic Langtang Valley trek, passing the lama hotel, Langtang village, and finally arriving at Kyanjin Gompa. You will have a day allocated for acclimatization when you can go on exploring the side highlights like Kyangjin Ri, the cheese factory, and many more.

After a successful acclimatization day, you have completed the first phase of your trek. To begin the next phase of your trek, you have to get back to Lama Hotel by making your way through the same dense forest of rhododendrons and bamboo. Further proceeding with the trek, you will reach a small hamlet called Thulo Syabru, where the sight of Ganesh Himal will greet you. Passing some more hemlock and oak forests, you will arrive at Sing Gompa or Chandanbari.

Making a final push at the Laure binayak pass, you can finally witness the holy Gosainkunda Lakes. The returning path is not the same as the other two treks. This package is created to provide you with more insight into the Langtang Valley. So you will trek downhill to pass the Gosainkunda pass to arrive at Ghopte Odar. Additionally, you will have to cover a total of 79 km, which requires 6 to 7 hours of hiking on the remote and rugged terrain.

Despite being named as a moderate trek, if you come unprepared or underprepared, then this trek can be quite taxing for you.

How to Prepare Effectively for Langtang Trek?

You will need a basic level of physical fitness with good mental resilience to complete the trek. It is always better to come prepared when you are embarking on any trekking journey, not only the Langtang Valley trek. Moreover, if you are a novice trekker, then you should take training more seriously to enjoy the trek to the fullest.

There are various training programs you can take to prepare yourself for the journey. However, you have to start preparing yourself 3 to 6 weeks prior to the trek. Initially, you have to do some physical assessment tests to know the actual data of your physical fitness and strength. Then, you can decide on how long you will need to train to reach the benchmark you set. Likewise, training yourself is not a one-day thing, so you need to be consistent with the training.

You can try some exercises that will increase your strength and boost your physical stamina. Training with exercises like swimming, jogging, cycling, planks, lunges, squats, and pull-ups can help in your physical preparation.

Mental preparation is equally important as physical preparation. You should be mentally prepared for long hours of hiking. It is better to keep low expectations about the trek because when high expectations are not met, it will create disappointment about the journey.

Permits for Langtang Valley Trek


To successfully complete your Langtang Valley trek, you will need to acquire two permits.

Since the Langtang Valley falls under the care of Langtang National Park. The first permit you will need to acquire is the Langtang National Park permit. This permit will cost you about USD 30.

Another necessary documentation that you need to obtain is a TIMS card. This card consists of all the information about the trekkers for their safety and security in Nepal. This card will cost you Nrs 1000 if you are foreign nationals, except that of SAARC countries. In case you are a national of SAARC countries, then it will cost you about NRS 300.

What Kind of Food And Accommodation Facilities Can You Expect?

All the trekking packages we have mentioned above have teahouse-based accommodation with the availability of 3-time meals.

On your journey to the Langtang Valley, you will stay overnight at a tea house or lodge. You will be provided with a twin-sharing room that will have two or three adjacent beds. Moreover, the beds will be properly equipped with blankets, pillows, and mattresses. You can have an attached bathroom of Western style in the lower elevation, but as you progress to a higher elevation, you may be able to find a traditional squat-style bathroom that will be in a shared vicinity.

In terms of food, you will have wide menus to choose from. You can have traditional Nepali food, regional food, Indian and Tibetan cuisines, or even foreign specialties to choose from.

For breakfast, you can enjoy light foods like bread, eggs, cornflakes, soups, pancakes, pudding, muesli, oats, etc.

For lunch and dinner, you can have different khana sets, momo, stews, dhindo, steak, pizza, fries, spaghetti, pasta, etc. Additionally, the teahouse and lodges will have a diverse variety of drinks, from freshly squeezed juices, hot drinks, and cold drinks to hard drinks.
